Cowboys Among Top 5 Favorite Professional Sports Teams In Texas
Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

With no shortage of professional and college teams dotting the Lone State State’s landscape from the eastern fringes bordering Louisiana west towards El Paso, there’s a litany of allegiances to choose from in Texas.

Based on the digital tea leaves known as search volume, though, we can glean a lot of information about which Texas teams residents are looking up the most, with one of the NFL’s most venerable brands leading the way in 2024.

That club is the Dallas Cowboys, who pulled in a search volume total of 6,120,000 during the period in question, beating out the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Astros statewide.

Which Texas Team Rules Them All?

As stated above, the Cowboys are Texas’ most popular team when broken down solely by search volume totals, while the Rangers are the most popular MLB team, with a total search volume of 2,740,000.

Texas’ favorite NBA team by search volume is the Mavericks, who finished with a total of 2,240,000, while the Houston Astros were fourth overall, at 1,830,000.

Rounding out the Texas professional sports quintet was the Houston Texans, who earned a search volume total of 1,000,000 to finish fifth in the Lone Star State.

Still, no team in the region could hold a candle to Jerry Jones’ bunch, in spite of the fact that Houston actually has better Super Bowl odds on Bet365 (+1100) than Dallas (+2000) through five weeks of the NFL regular season.
