On the heels of a standout senior season where he won the Outland Trophy, Lombardi Award and the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, former Texas Longhorns star offensive lineman Kelvin Banks Jr. is off to the pros, where he’ll look to use his generational talents in the trenches for one lucky NFL team.
That’s because the Humble native is a first-round lock for the 2025 NFL Draft, with ESPN’s Mel Kiper listing the former UT star as the 14th best prospect in the class this year, while Field Yates of the Four-Letter Network has him going 10th overall to the Chicago Bears.
In that writeup, Yates says that Banks could be a crucial addition for a Bears team that is looking to build around last year’s top overall pick (QB Caleb Williams), saying: “Banks has very good footwork and balance for a 320-pound player, and I believe his extensive experience (42 starts) will make for a smoother transition to the NFL.”
What we do know is that Banks won’t have to wait long to hear his name called by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell once the NFL Draft starts inside Lambeau Field on April 24, with the former UT star coming to an offensive line near you in 2025.

Who Drafts Kelvin Banks Jr.?
Our resounding favorite to land Banks is the Bears, who clock in at -150 to select the former Texas lineman with the 10th pick in the first round, ranking well ahead of fellow NFL teams like the Seattle Seahawks (+400) and the Cleveland Browns (+650).
Of the three, the Browns have the best draft spot to choose from, with the second pick in the first round, while the Bears are 10th and the Seahawks have the 18th pick, meaning the AFC North franchise could play the spoiler if they choose to go with Banks with their first selection in Green Bay come April 24.
What we know for sure right now is that Banks will not wait long before discovering where he’s headed to in the 32-team league, as the former UT star is sure to land in the top part of the first round come April 24, with generational talents that are sure to catch the eye of GMs across the league after a standout career in Austin.
