Bijan Robinson Odds of Winning 2022 Heisman Trophy
The Longhorns running back hasn't gone over 71 rushing yards in his first two games of the season, but he has found the end zone in both games. Robinson is effective when targeted in the passing game which lends to his value and keeps him relevant in Heisman discussions. He'll need to rack up more yards if he wants to win the Trophy this season.

A late-season injury derailed Robinsonâs 2021 campaign and may have cost Texas a shot at a bowl game. Despite playing in only 10 games last season, Robinson finished with 1,128 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns. He added nearly 300 yards receiving and four touchdown catches.
Why Are Bookmakers so High on Robinson?
Although late-season injuries derailed his 2021 campaign, Robinson still averaged better than 112 yards rushing per game on 5.8 yards per carry. Despite being a big back and 6-foot-0 and 215 pounds, Robinson was a stellar receiver out of the backfield.
He finished with 26 catches for 295 yards for an average of 11.3 yards per reception â a stellar number for a running back. Robinson eclipsed the 100-yard mark in six of Texasâ first seven games last season, which included a 216-yard effort in a 32-27 win over TCU.
Given how the Heisman Trophy has become a quarterbackâs award, Robinson may need to eclipse 2,000 yards from scrimmage to have a realistic chance in 2022. Texas, as a team, will also likely need to do better than last seasonâs 5-7 record.
Texas has produced two Heisman winners, and both were running backs. The most recent was Ricky Williams in 1998, who left as major college footballâs all-time leading rusher. The last player from Texas to finish in the top 10 in the Heisman Trophy voting was running back DâOnta Foreman, who finished eighth in 2015.
If Robinson wants to make a statement in 2022, he wonât have to wait long. After hosting Louisiana Monroe to open the year, the Longhorns will welcome Alabama on Sept. 10.
