With Spring Training wrapped up, BetTexas.com was curious how the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers have historically done during the regular season, compared to their spring training results. Using Baseball-Reference.com, we found the spring training and regular season winning percentage for each MLB team between 2022-2024. We then found the difference between spring training and regular season winning percentages, and ranked teams based on the difference. Based on the average difference between spring training and regular season, we calculated the 2025 regular season winning percentage for the Astros and Rangers.

After finishing second in the Grapefruit League standings with a 16-12 (.571) record, the focus in the Space City shifts towards trying to get back to the postseason for a ninth straight season. Last year, Houston finished with an 88-73 (.547) record but crashed out in the AL Wild Card Round in two games against the upstart Detroit Tigers, leaving many wanting more this baseball season ahead of the countdown to Texas sports betting.

Luckily for those fans, Houston’s year-end winning percentage has been on average .026 ahead of where the team finished in Spring Training between 2022 and 2024, which could mean big things come baseball season for the Astros. That’s because such an improvement, winning percentage wise, would net the Astros a regular season percentage of .597, which would be the team’s best regular season figure since going 106-56 (.656) in 2022.

On that front, oddsmakers from DraftKings Sportsbook Texas certainly have high expectations for Houston in 2025, with -170 odds of making the postseason (ranking second in the AL behind the New York Yankees, at -220), with a preseason win total over/under of 87.5.

Up the road in Arlington, things aren’t quite as rosy as they are in Houston, as the Texas Rangers’ World Series defense ended in a 78-84 (.481) dud, leaving fans to wonder where the club goes from here in 2025.

During Spring Training, Texas posted a 14-16 (.483) record, finishing 8.5 games behind the San Francisco Giants in the Cactus League standings, which gives us an idea of where the team will go during the regular season.

That’s because Texas’ regular season winning percentage has been .013 lower than the team’s Spring Training total in the last three years, which means the Rangers would be on pace for a .470 winning percentage in 2025 should such an outcome happen again this baseball season.

Based on the preseason odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, it seems like Texas fans shouldn’t get too depressed, as the Boston-based operator has Texas’ win total over/under at 85.5 with -130 odds of the Rangers making the postseason after missing out last fall.
