A true superstar wide receiver in the making is officially in the NCAA transfer portal, as Texas Tech Red Raiders freshman Micah Hudson has entered the void after hauling in eight catches for 123 yards in his lone season at the Big 12 program this year.
Hudson came to Lubbock as a five-star prospect on the 247Sports.com rating system, with an overall recruiting score of 98, netting him the fifth highest total of any wideout nationally and fourth highest of any Lone State prospect during the class of 2024.
Now, the Lake Belton High School alum out of Temple is back on the open market, with programs that missed out on Hudson’s services earlier this year like Texas A&M, Alabama, Arizona State and Arkansas all likely to pursue the speedster this offseason.
With that in mind, BetTexas.com - home to all developments around Texas sports betting legislation - broke down the odds on which college program has the best chance of landing Hudson out of the transfer portal, with Lone Star State powers like Texas and Texas A&M duking it out against contenders like LSU, Colorado and Michigan for second year wideout’s services.
College | Odds | Percentage Chance |
Texas | +475 | 17.4% |
Texas A&M | +650 | 13.3% |
LSU | +650 | 13.3% |
Colorado | +1000 | 9.1% |
Michigan | +1000 | 9.1% |
Tennessee | +1100 | 8.3% |
Ohio State | +1500 | 6.3% |
Florida | +2000 | 4.8% |
Georgia | +2000 | 4.8% |
The Field | +650 | 13.3% |

Right now, we’re going with Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns as the odds-on leader to land Hudson out of the transfer portal, with UT listed at +475 to add the former Texas Tech WR this offseason, beating out Texas A&M and LSU, who are listed at +650 apiece.
Throw in transfer portal connoisseur Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes and the defending CFP champion Michigan Wolverines at +1000 apiece and the Tennessee Volunteers at +1100 and you have the upper end of the Hudson odds board this offseason.
Longshots to keep an eye on when it comes to landing the former five-star high school prospect include the Ohio State Buckeyes (+1500), Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs (+2000 apiece), though it looks like Hudson could very well stay in-state for his next FBS stop come 2025.
Given the looming return to the CFP for Sarkisian and the Longhorns and the steady hand of first-year A&M head coach Mike Elko, combined with the wild card that is ‘Coach Prime’ at CU and the Bayou Bengals of LSU; it should be an entertaining chase to see which Power Four stalwart can land Hudson out of the portal, with lots of twists and turns bound to unfold before the dust settles on the former Red Raider’s next collegiate stop.
