Way-Too-Early 2025 Heisman Odds: Who Is The Favorite To Win The Heisman Trophy?

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

  • It's never too early to peruse the next Heisman Trophy odds.
  • Who will follow Travis Hunter as college football royalty?
  • Early candidates include Texas QB Arch Manning.

As we await the kickoff of the College Football Playoff semifinal games on Thursday and Friday night, itā€™s worth wondering which CFB player will emerge as the sportā€™s next star, with this yearā€™s Heisman Trophy winner heading to the NFL.

That winner is Colorado Buffaloes two-way supernova Travis Hunter, who became the second Buffaloes player to win the honor after the late Rashaan Salaam did so in 1994, with the former five-star recruit taking his talents to the pros in 2025.

With Hunter off to greener pastures, that brings our attention forward to which CFB player could be next in line to hoist the Heisman Trophy come the end of the sportā€™s regular season, with former top recruits like Arch Manning of Texas and LSUā€™s Garrett Nussmeier ranking atop our early list right now.

With that in mind, BetTexas.com broke down some of the top candidates for the Heisman in 2025, with the Longhornsā€™ top recruit in 2023 beating out a host of other college quarterbacks on our list.

While there is no Texas sports betting available for the CFP, keep your fingers crossed for legislation progress in the year of 2025.

Arch Manning Early Heisman Favorite

Our odds-on favorite to win the 2025 Heisman Trophy is the nephew of Super Bowl winners Peyton and Eli Manning, with Arch taking center stage at UT after backing up Quinn Ewers in 2023 and 2024.

Manning enters the 2025 college football offseason as our Heisman favorite, at +800, after looking the part of a future superstar in brief action this year, completing 61-of-90 passes for 939 yards with nine touchdowns (to two interceptions) while Ewers was out injured.

Manningā€™s high school stats at Newman High School in New Orleans were the stuff of legend, with the Louisiana native throwing for 8,539 yards and 115 touchdowns across four seasons, along with 748 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground.

Overall, the junior Manning beat out LSUā€™s Nussmeier and Penn State QB Drew Allar, who both check in at +1000, as our Heisman Trophy favorite for 2025, with the former coming off a year where he threw for 4,043 yards and 29 touchdowns in his first campaign as the Tigersā€™ starter after riding the pine for three seasons, while the latter has the Nittany Lions in the CFP Semis after throwing for 3,192 yards and 24 touchdowns this season.

Allar is a junior this season and could theoretically declare for the 2025 NFL Draft (as could Nussmeier), though the LSU QB has already told reporters he plans to return to Baton Rouge this fall, while NFL Draft experts are openly questioning whether Allar will return to Happy Valley this fall, with a formal decision expected once Penn Stateā€™s season wraps up.

Trailing Nussmeier and Allar on our Heisman odds board for 2025 are two more SEC quarterbacks, in Floridaā€™s DJ Lagway and Tennesseeā€™s Nico Iamaleava, at +1250 to win the award in 2025, with Lagway showing supreme talent in spurts as a freshman for the 8-5 Gators, with 2,016 total yards and 12 touchdowns in 12 starts, while Iamaleava had fell just shy of 3,000 yards of offense with 22 total touchdowns in 13 starts this season for Tennessee, leading the SEC program to the CFP for the first time on the heels of a 10-3 run in Knoxville.

Don't Count Out Lagway, Iamaleava

Trailing Nussmeier and Allar on our Heisman odds board for 2025 are two more SEC quarterbacks, in Floridaā€™s DJ Lagway and Tennesseeā€™s Nico Iamaleava, at +1250 to win the award in 2025, with Lagway showing supreme talent in spurts as a freshman for the 8-5 Gators, with 2,016 total yards and 12 touchdowns in 12 starts. Iamaleava fell just shy of 3,000 yards of offense with 22 total touchdowns in 13 starts this season for Tennessee, leading the SEC program to the CFP for the first time on the heels of a 10-3 run in Knoxville.

Longshot Heisman Trophy candidates to keep an eye on this fall include a quintet of quarterbacks (Kevin Jennings, John Mateer, Cade Klubnik, LaNorris Sellers and Sam Levitt) at +1500, two running backs (Jeremiyah Love and Makhi Hughes) and two wideouts (Jeremiah Smith and Ryan Williams) at +2000 apiece and four more QBs (Bryce Underwood, Julian Sayin, Dylan Raiola and Dante Moore) at +3000 apiece.

For now, what we know is that weā€™ll have a new Heisman Trophy winner in 2025, with Hunter off to the professional ranks and a new college football legend taking the mantle as the sportā€™s top player in 2025.
