👀The Astros for the first time since 2016 failed to advance to the ALCS, and now a franchise staple is a free agent.
📈Below, we provide odds on if the Astros will resign third baseman Alex Bregman, who helped bring two titles to Houston.
âš¾Expect the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox and Tigers to be interested in the two-time All-Star.
If only there had been Texas sports betting for the last eight Houston Astros seasons, which included two World Series titles, four Fall Classic appearances and an incredible seven straight seasons of making the American League Championship Series.
At the center of that run was third baseman Alex Bregman, a Houston staple who now enters free agency after another solid season, posting a .768 OPS across 145 games with 26 home runs and 75 RBIs.
It's hard to imagine Bregman in a different uniform, but nothing is guaranteed heading into this offseason. Below are exclusive odds for Bregman's next team.
Houston, we may have a problem. While we like the Astros (+275) to keep Bregman long-term, the franchise will have to outbid several suitors, all of whom can also tout postseason potential over the next few seasons.
The New York Yankees (+500) have been consistent victims to the Bregman-Astros since 2017, and Brian Cashman would love nothing more than to steal away a critical piece from an American League rival. Bregman also is a player whose career has been bolstered by clutch playoff performances, a trait largely lacking in recent Yankee teams. Could Bregman really don the pinstripes next spring? Always remember, money talks.
The Boston Red Sox (+700) are another franchise starving for postseason success, not to mention another star player to pair with Rafael Devers. While Devers and Bregman would have to work out who would man the hot corner, the Sox roster simply needs more proven talent, and a city like Boston would more than appreciate bringing in a proven champion like Bregman. Sox fans in general are stir crazy for the front office to spend some money this offseason. A healthy deal for Bregman would go a long way in fans' eyes. They'd worry about where to play him in the field at a later date.
Then there's the New York Mets (also +700), a sudden Cinderella story in the 2024 postseason. First-year President of Baseball Operations David Stearns just may be building something special, and pairing Bregman with Francisco Lindor would give the Mets arguably the best left side of the infield in MLB in 2025 and beyond.
